Writers Looking For Feedback…

I offer one-on-one coaching, editing, and critique services for writers of fiction and nonfiction, both shorter pieces and book-length projects. There are two standard packages, one for critique and one for coaching. Rush fees may apply.

If you wanted feedback on work you’ve already written, the cost for critique services is $150 for the first 10 pages (2500 words) and $5 per additional page. In return, you would receive line editing for the complete manuscript plus your choice of a critique (500-2000 words, depending on the length of the manuscript, outlining what’s successful and what can be improved) or a one-hour in-person meeting. The industry standard of 250 words per page is used to calculate the final cost.

For clients who want more of a coaching experience, I offer a ten-session package for $1200. You and I would meet five times for one hour in person or on the phone to discuss strategy, revision, outlining, etc., and you would receive feedback five times via email on up to 2500 words (or another mutually agreed upon arrangement). A single one-hour consultation is $150.

The Publish-Your-Book Package: Purchased either individually or with one of the services above, this package provides two rounds of feedback on your query letter (or a one-hour consultation and one round of feedback) for $250 or one round of edits on your query and book proposal for $500. Get your book out there!

How to Write a Book Proposal Independent Study: I now offer my nonfiction book proposal workshop as a six-session independent study for $900. We’ll work through the standard elements of the book proposal week by week so that you’ll be in a position to have a complete proposal at the end.

With Marketing (Newsletters, Social Media, Websites)…

I’ve been working increasingly with creatives and organizations on the marketing side of art and commerce. After managing the marketing functions for Writing Workshops Los Angeles for years, I took a position as the Library Communication Coordinator for the California Institute of Technology. I’ve also developed a robust web design side hustle and completed a certificate in graphic design from CalArts. Recently, I’ve been consulting with clients on setting up Substack newsletters, using social media for promotion, designing graphics, writing copy, and other necessary components of building a platform in 2021. I charge $200 for a one-hour marketing consultation, and often, that’s all you’ll need.
