This fall I am offering three six-week classes meant to inspire new work, foster creative community, and teach craft elements of poetry. And, after this past (%$#^!) year, also meant to provide two hours of creative oasis.
Wednesday night craft class: After a deep dive last spring into new forms this class will return to more general topics such as ‘the turn’ in a poem, the leap into metaphor, sound and rhythm, among other elements. This class will be a mix of looking at poems and reviewing student work. The dates will be: Sept 1, 8, 15th (subject to change), 22, 29, Oct. 6. 7:00-9:00 p.m. (PST) $295.
I am also offering a Monday afternoon craft class which will meet from 4:00-6:00 p.m. (PST), in part to accommodate those in other time zones. The dates will be: August 30, Sept. 6th (subject to change), 13th, 20th, 27th, and Oct. 4th. $295. This class will also cover craft topics in poetry, but I envision it as better suited for those just beginning with poetry.
During these past few months I’ve enjoyed coming together with others (virtually) to write together in community. On Friday mornings from 10:00-11:30 (PST) we will come together with the goal of reading a poem, writing to a prompt and then sharing our work. This is less a workshop than an opportunity to write with others and briefly hear our words. The dates will be: Sept. 3, 10, 17, 24, Oct. 1, 8th. $150.00.
